Helmut Kasimirovich (Düsseldorf, Germany) writes:"I had response from Spain, Ireland, GB, Finland and Italy. One man was very interested and visited me in November 2008 to look for the OTAV. There were long negotiations but in January 2009 the man from Italy bought the OTAV. On the 3rd of April the car was brought to Brescia, because the new owner was there for a meeting of Mille Miglia participants. His father and uncle were driver in the years 1953 and 1954 there. The OTAV now is back in Italy !"

I have now had 8 responses 1 from China 1 from Poland 2 from France and 4 from England. The buyer was British and was in the Dordougne and drove down with a trailer and the cash. Buyer lives in Bromley Kent. Terrific response and sold very quickly but it was a lovely little car.

All contacts were good with some people underevaluating the cost of such a car .. If I had advertised the price I would have had less contacts I am sure. Martin Shelley sold his unrestored 1912 Clément Bayard: "The response to the advert was fantastic and far more than anticipated. The car is being bought by an enthusiast from Northern Ireland, but I had emails expressing interest from England, France, the Netherlands (2), Italy (also 2) and Sweden! I decided reluctantly to sell the car only because I need to raise funds to pay for the restoration of my Thornycroft car, as I am an enthusiast not a dealer and seldom sell vehicles as a result. The auction might have raised a higher price but i would have had considerable seller's costs to cover so prewarcar was a better solution for me. In addition, I have had a lengthy dialogue with the buyer so I am confident he is exactly the sort of fellow enthusiast I would have wanted to take the car on, which is a very rare and untouched survivor of Edwardian motoring, which is my favourite period."

We have been in contact by email, phone, and IM for the past 2-3 weeks. The check just cleared on Saturday, the shipping company has contacted us for pickup and now we are waiting for them to come and pick it up. The gentlemen was very persistent and polite.

The 1937 Cord recieved only one or two responses and was sold to a local friend via word of mouth.

The 1930 Cadillac recieved probably about 50 inquiries from all over the world (UK, Spain, So. America, Australia, NZ, etc) and was sold to a gentleman in Seattle Washington.

I got quite a few responses to my ad for a '36 Ford Pickup Truck and sold it in about a month. A man in Ontario, Canada was the first one who was interested. He needed to sell a trailer to raise the funds. In the meantime, I sold it to a man in Capitola, California.

We had about 30 responses from USA, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland, Germany, France and UK. Most of the people said, initially, that they definitely wanted the car but when asked to make a phone call to the Principal did not proceed even that far. Money talks, bullshit walks. I would say that the car was about 10 per cent overpriced and that might have had something to do with it. I don't know what the market has been like in recent months though, I imagine, our timing was good - prior to summer.
